Добро пожаловать

Welcome.

Benjamin Whorf once wrote, that “We dissect nature along lines laid down by our native languages.”

It's a bold statement that has engendered some lively debate. Whether or not you agree with Whorf, it's true that Russian does require us to make distinctions that we typically ignore in English. This is especially true when we talk about going places in Russian.

In this course we'll present material through images, animations, and words together; in this way I think you'll see that the Russian system of expressing motion is just as reasonable as any other.

And before long, with some practice, you’ll be drawing these distinctions yourself, without consciously thinking about them!
